Google: Everything Announced at Google I/O 2024

Google I/O 2024 is over, and it was a jam-packed event filled with announcements about new features for Google products, from Search and Assistant to Chrome and Android. As always, Google’s focus was on artificial intelligence (AI), and the company unveiled a number of new AI-powered features that are designed to make our lives easier and more productive.

    A New Era of Search

One of the biggest announcements at Google I/O 2024 was a revamped search engine. Google Search is getting a major overhaul, with a new focus on AI and machine learning. The new search engine will be able to understand your queries in a more comprehensive way, and it will provide you with more relevant and informative results.

    • Search with Images: Google Search will now allow you to search using images. This means that you can take a picture of something (or upload an image from your device), and Google will be able to tell you what it is and where you can find it. For example, you could take a picture of a pair of shoes that you like, and Google would be able to find similar shoes for you to purchase online.
    • AI Summaries: Google Search will also start providing AI summaries of places on Google Maps. This means that when you search for a place on Google Maps, you will see a short summary of the place, including its hours of operation, reviews, and other important information.
    • Scam Call Detection: Google is also adding a new feature to Android that will help to detect scam calls. This feature will use machine learning to identify calls that are likely to be scams, and it will warn you before you answer the call.

    A More Powerful Gemini

One of the most talked-about announcements at Google I/O 2024 was the new generation of Google’s large language model, Gemini. Gemini is a powerful AI model that can be used for a variety of tasks, such as generating text, translating languages, and writing different kinds of creative content.

The new version of Gemini is even more powerful than the previous version. It can now answer your questions in more comprehensive ways, and it can be integrated with many Google apps. For example, you can use Gemini to get help with writing a document in Google Docs, or to generate creative text formats of text content, like poems, code, scripts, musical pieces, email, letters, etc.

    AI for Everyone

Google is making AI more accessible to everyone with a new set of tools that are designed for developers and businesses. These tools will allow developers to create AI-powered applications, and businesses to use AI to improve their operations.

    • AI Platform: Google AI Platform is a suite of tools that makes it easy for developers to build, train, and deploy machine learning models.
    • Vertex AI: Vertex AI is a new managed machine learning service from Google Cloud that makes it easy for businesses to use AI without having to build their own infrastructure.

    Other Announcements

In addition to the announcements mentioned above, Google also made a number of other announcements at I/O 2024. Here are a few of the highlights:

    • Veo: A new video generation tool that allows you to create short videos using just text.
    • Social Media Assistant: A new feature for Chrome that will help you write social media posts.
    • Improvements to Google Assistant: Google Assistant is getting a number of new features, including the ability to make calls to businesses and the ability to control your smart home devices with your voice.

    Conclusion

Google I/O 2024 was a big day for Google, and the company announced a number of new features that are designed to make our lives easier and more productive. With a focus on AI, Google is making its products more intelligent and helpful than ever before.
