Manufacturing Plant in Clinton to Close, More Than 100 Workers to Be Laid Off

Manufacturing Plant in Clinton to Close, More Than 100 Workers to Be Laid Off

    Key Highlights

    • Jabil plans to shut down its Clinton facility by Dec. 1.
    • 103 employees expected to be impacted by layoffs.
    • Production to shift to another company-owned facility.

A manufacturing plant in Clinton, Massachusetts, that produces healthcare products is set to close, leaving 103 employees out of work as global manufacturer Jabil shifts production to other facilities.

The company said the move is part of a broader effort to consolidate operations and better align manufacturing capacity with business needs.

Jabil filed a notice with the state on June 2, warning of the upcoming layoffs.

“After a comprehensive review of our manufacturing footprint, business demand, and long-term strategic needs, we have made the difficult decision to wind down operations at our Clinton, Massachusetts, facility,” a spokesperson for the company said.

Plant to Shut Down by December

Jabil said production from the Clinton site will be consolidated into another company-owned facility. The company expects operations at the facility located at 123 Union St. will officially shut down by Dec. 1.

Not all operations at the campus will be affected.

While the company did not specify where production will move, it said the decision followed an internal review of business demand and long-term strategic priorities.

The Clinton facility has been involved in producing healthcare-related products, though the company has not shared additional details about the manufacturing work that will be relocated.

Jabil said the closure is intended to better align operations with overall business needs as the company continues to evaluate its manufacturing footprint.

    Support Planned for Affected Employees

Jabil subsidiaries NyproMold and NP Medical will continue operating at the location, and the company said it expects no disruptions to those businesses.

The company said it is working to support impacted employees through transfer opportunities at its facility in Devens and other U.S. locations. Employees who are unable to transfer will be offered severance benefits and career outplacement assistance.

Headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, Jabil provides engineering, manufacturing and supply chain solutions.

According to the company’s 2025 annual report, Jabil has employees across 100 locations in 30 countries, including approximately 15,000 workers in the United States.
