Not everyone has the appetite for entrepreneurship, it takes a certain amount of zeal mixed with risk-taking to row through the tough currents of business. Julian Reusing (CEO at GoliathTech) has used his expertise and entrepreneurial skills to scale GoliathTech into a global franchise business.

GoliathTech was established in 2004 by Les Pieux Goliath and operated exclusively in a small town in Quebec, Canada. Julian Reusing purchased the firm in 2013 and transformed the company into a global franchise model.

Headquartered in Quebec, Canada, GoliathTech today has a presence over globally with 160 open franchise units. It is a leader in the engineering, design, manufacturing, and distribution of helical piles. Implementation of the products extends to the field of construction via home foundations, underpinning (foundation repair,) signage, decks, railway infrastructure, agricultural infrastructure, solar, and many more.

GoliathTech initially operated for 9 years as a non-franchise business by the previous owner. With the acquisition by Julian in 2013, he started by opening the first 18,000 sq. ft. factory. Since that foundation, the company has only grown and now become a familiar name in the market. By 2018 the company had sold out the Canadian Franchises and was establishing several franchises in the United States. Soon GoliathTech was also launched in Europe. It opened 100 franchised territories by 2019 and in the next two years, GoliathTech was exploring the Caribbean countries and was operating 150 franchised territories globally. The company is opening 1 and 3 new franchises every month. The Q1 of 2022 was proven profitable for the company too, as the team of GoliathTech has now moved to a newly built state-of-the-art 120,000 sq. ft. high-speed production factory.

For over a decade, GoliathTech has combined its strength and know-how to deliver the best piling solution to support the clients’ projects. In our recent interview with Julian, we walk through the journey of GoliathTech and how it has expanded into one of the leading companies to watch in 2022.

Could you outline your experience of 2022 by far?

2022 has been a very good, yet challenging year for us so far. With the travel restrictions due to COVID, many people have decided to invest that money in their homes, backyards, gardens, and pools which is great for us! With the current market rates, many people are improving their homes, rather than purchasing a newer or larger one.

What are the different solutions/services/products that GoliathTech offers to its wide range of clients?

GoliathTech Inc. is a leader in the engineering, design, manufacturing, and distribution of helical piles. The implementation of their products extends to several fields of construction including home foundations, underpinning (foundation repair,) signage, decks, railway infrastructure, agricultural infrastructure, and solar, to name some of its applications.

According to you, what distinguishes GoliathTech’s services as compared to others in the industry?

Made from fully galvanized 60Ksi steel, the tubes and helices are protected against physical deterioration. Furthermore, to prevent the cold weather heaving, they are filled with polyurethane. GoliathTech uses high-quality recycled steel in its fabrication. This conserves natural resources and energy and reduces the overall carbon footprint. The company is ISO 14001:2015 certified, which is an Environmental Management System that is used to enhance our environmental performance. Also, GoliathTech is very proud to hold many patents as they show how committed we are to our customers to deliver the best product.

Could you outline the different challenges that GoliathTech has faced in recent times? How did the team tackle it?

Like many industries, there is an ongoing struggle to hire new employees to meet demands. One thing that we have become masters of is making every step of the manufacturing operations as efficient as possible.

How would you describe the team GoliathTech in terms of what they have been able to achieve over the last few years?

We always refer to ourselves as the GoliathTech family. GoliathTech has no weakest link, everyone knows exactly what needs to be done and how to do it. The team has been the cornerstone of our success and their efforts have been recognized by several awards and accolades in the industry.

Please mention the different awards/recognition that GoliathTech has received in recent years?

In 2022 GoliathTech won the Best Businesses in Canada from the Canadian Business Review Board. Last year we were ranked on the Franchise 500 list by Entrepreneur Magazine. Many more awards can be found on our website!

What are your expectations for the coming years? Are there any latest services and solutions that we can expect in the near future?

If history is an indication of the future, we will continue to grow. At GoliathTech, we are always looking at new applications and innovations to stay ahead of the competition.
