HOLON Develops Autonomous EV Using PTC Windchill+ Platform

By Business Leaders ReviewDecember 13, 2025
HOLON Develops Autonomous EV Using PTC Windchill+ Platform

    Key Highlights

    • HOLON implements PTC Windchill+ in just six months, replacing manual workflows with a unified cloud-based PLM environment.
    • The platform enhances real-time collaboration across HOLON’s engineering and manufacturing facilities in Germany and the U.S.
    • Windchill+ strengthens HOLON’s push to build a next-generation HOLON autonomous EV, supporting PTC’s Intelligent Product Lifecycle vision.

PTC announced that HOLON, a subsidiary of the BENTELER Group, is leveraging PTC Windchill+ to accelerate development of its HOLON autonomous EV. This EV is a Level 4-capable electric vehicle designed for modern public transportation.

HOLON is developing mobility solutions for public transportation. Its first vehicle, the HOLON urban. The vehicle is designed to provide barrier-free access and seating space for up to 15 passengers, with flexible configuration options for different operational scenarios.

As part of the company’s broader innovation roadmap, the HOLON urban model aims to meet global automotive standards while supporting multiple use cases, including scheduled routes, ride pooling, on-demand service, and goods transportation.

HOLON’s ambition is to enable the production of diverse model variants on a single manufacturing line, improving scalability and production efficiency.

HOLON has also adopted a production approach intended to allow multiple vehicle variants to be built on the same assembly line.

Cloud-Based PLM Replaces Manual Processes in Six Months

According to PTC, HOLON implemented Windchill+ within just six months and established a digital product development environment to replace manual, paper-based processes.

With cloud-based PLM, engineering teams can access product information in real time and collaborate across the development center and planned manufacturing sites in Germany and the United States.

The move establishes a centralized, digital product development environment offering:

    • Real-time access to product and engineering data
    • Streamlined workflows that reduce manual effort
    • Centralized configuration and change management
    • Stronger traceability and compliance processes

This step helps in improving communication and reducing development delays as HOLON prepares for large-scale manufacturing.

Windchill+ Supports Intelligent Product Lifecycle Initiatives

PTC notes that the adoption of PTC Windchill+ aligns with its Intelligent Product Lifecycle strategy, which helps companies develop strong engineering-data foundations that extend across business functions.

For the HOLON autonomous EV program, the platform will support key initiatives such as:

    • AI-driven design and decision intelligence
    • Enhanced product quality through unified data governance
    • Efficient management of complex vehicle configurations
    • Meeting global regulatory and compliance standards

As HOLON approaches commercialization, PTC Windchill+ gives the company the digital infrastructure needed to ensure engineering accuracy, operational consistency, and faster innovation cycles that are key themes driving today’s EV Industry landscape.
