Joby Aviation Acquires Additional Dayton Facility to Boost Aircraft Output

Joby Aviation Acquires Additional Dayton Facility to Boost Aircraft Output

    Key Highlights

    • Joby Aviation has signed an agreement to acquire a second manufacturing facility in Dayton, Ohio.
    • The 700,000+ square-foot site will support plans to double aircraft production to four per month by 2027.
    • The facility strengthens Joby’s growing manufacturing footprint across Ohio and California.

Joby Aviation has announced a new agreement to acquire an additional manufacturing facility in Dayton, Ohio, further expanding its U.S. production capacity as the company prepares to scale aircraft manufacturing.

The facility spans more than 700,000 square feet and is ready for immediate use. Once operational, the site will initially support Joby’s plan to double aircraft production to four aircraft per month in 2027. Operations at the new location are expected to begin later this year.

    Strengthening Joby’s Manufacturing Footprint

The Dayton site will complement Joby’s existing production facilities in California and Ohio, reinforcing the company’s long-term manufacturing strategy. Joby previously completed an expanded manufacturing facility in Marina, California, in July 2025, and began propeller blade production in Ohio in October.

To support its increased production targets, Joby also began procuring the capital equipment required to double manufacturing capacity last month, signaling a transition from engineering development to scaled manufacturing.

    Dayton’s Role in Aerospace Innovation

JoeBen Bevirt, founder and CEO of Joby Aviation, said the new facility will play a key role in both near-term production goals and future growth.

“This site will not only support our near-term plan to double production, it can also serve as a base for significant future growth, as we turn a decade of engineering into the manufacturing scale the market is now demanding.

From the world’s first aircraft factory to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton has long been the epicentre of aerospace innovation and we’re proud to be building the next generation of flight right here.

The reindustrialisation of Ohio has become central to Joby’s story and with unmatched governmental and policy support, we’re ready to make sure that the commercial and defence aircraft that define the future of flight are built right here in America.”

Ohio as a Strategic Manufacturing Hub

Joby emphasized that Ohio’s reindustrialization has become central to the company’s long-term vision. With strong governmental and policy support, the company believes the state is well positioned to support both commercial and defense aircraft manufacturing.

As Joby continues to prepare for the commercialization of its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, the additional Dayton facility represents a significant step toward building the manufacturing scale needed to meet future market demand while anchoring advanced aerospace production in the U.S.
