Microsoft, in collaboration with HealthEx, has launched Copilot Health, a new consumer-focused artificial intelligence tool designed to help individuals better understand and manage their health data.
The platform enables users to gather medical records, lab results, and wellness data from multiple sources into a single interface. By integrating with the HealthEx platform and various fitness applications, Copilot Health provides a unified view of a user’s health profile.
Users can also ask health-related questions and receive AI-generated answers backed by trusted sources such as Harvard Health, ensuring greater reliability and transparency.
Bringing Fragmented Health Data Into One Place
One of the key challenges in healthcare today is the fragmentation of patient data across different providers and platforms. Copilot Health aims to address this issue by allowing users to connect data from more than 50 wearable devices and access medical records from over 50,000 hospitals and healthcare organizations in the United States.
Through HealthEx, the system connects to health records using standardized frameworks such as the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), enabling secure and seamless data sharing.
According to Priyanka Agarwal, cofounder and CEO of HealthEx, many patients struggle to get a complete picture of their health due to scattered records and limited consultation time. The new platform aims to simplify access and reduce delays in seeking care.
Personalized Insights With Privacy Controls
Copilot Health provides personalized insights by combining medical history, wearable data such as sleep and activity levels, and real-time health metrics. Users can access details like visit summaries, medication lists, and test results in one place.
The tool also connects to real-time provider directories, allowing users to search for doctors and specialists based on location or language preferences.
Microsoft emphasized that privacy is a core component of the platform. User conversations are de-identified, not used for AI training, and can be disconnected from health records or wearable devices at any time.
Built With Global Medical Expertise
The development of Copilot Health involved contributions from over 230 physicians across 24 countries, along with input from organizations such as AARP and the National Health Council.
The platform has also achieved ISO/IEC 42001 certification, a standard for AI management systems, highlighting its focus on responsible AI deployment in healthcare.
According to Peter Hames, Vice President of Health for Microsoft AI, the tool is designed to give users confidence by helping them better understand their overall health picture and make informed decisions.
Growing Trend Toward Patient-Centric Health Data
The launch reflects a broader trend toward patient-controlled health data and AI-driven healthcare tools. HealthEx has previously worked with partners such as athenahealth, CLEAR, and CommonWell Health Alliance to enable secure access to medical records.
As demand for digital health solutions grows, Copilot Health represents a step toward more accessible, personalized, and data-driven healthcare experiences for patients.
The tool is currently open to users via a waitlist, with additional features expected to roll out following clinical evaluations.
