Colquitt Regional Medical Foundation has announced a major expansion project at Colquitt Regional Medical Center, with plans to build a new four-story medical tower in Moultrie as part of its new Reaching New Heights in Healthcare campaign.
Construction on the project is expected to begin this summer.
The new facility, called the Hufstetler Tower, is being positioned as a long-term investment in healthcare services for Moultrie, Colquitt County, and nearby communities. Hospital officials said the project will significantly expand patient capacity while improving access to specialized care.
New Tower to Expand Beds, Services, and Jobs
The expansion will increase the hospital’s licensed bed capacity from 99 to 155. It will also support the addition of 35 physicians and create around 490 new jobs in the region.
The new tower will include a women’s unit, expanded outpatient and surgical services on the ground floor, and three upper levels dedicated to new patient spaces.
Plans also include improvements to the Kate Jeter Memorial Garden, which hospital leaders say will offer a more peaceful outdoor setting for both patients and staff. Interior spaces are also expected to reflect design elements inspired by the natural landscape of the region.
“This project is about expanding access and supporting the long-term needs of this community,” said Michael Mijares.
He added that the focus remains on delivering a facility that can support patients, families, and healthcare workers for years ahead.
Doster Construction will serve as the general contractor for the project, while TMP Architects is leading the design. Noli White Group has been brought in for project management, equipment planning, and IT coordination.
Doster said the company brings significant healthcare construction experience to the project, having completed more than 1,500 healthcare facilities across the country.
The company was also recently recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the Top 20 healthcare contractors in the U.S.
Founded in 1969, Doster provides general contracting, construction management, and design-build services across multiple sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and industrial.
The Colquitt Regional expansion comes as hospitals across the U.S. continue investing in larger facilities to meet growing patient demand and improve long-term care access in regional communities.
