Key Highlights
- Telefónica Tech and Thales have introduced a GSMA SGP.32-compliant eSIM solution for global IoT deployments.
- The platform enables businesses to manage multiple operator profiles through a single eSIM and centralized interface.
- The solution is designed to simplify international IoT rollouts, reduce operational complexity, and improve deployment flexibility.
Telefónica Tech has partnered with Thales to launch a new eSIM solution that aims to simplify global IoT connectivity. This allows organizations to manage multiple mobile operator profiles through a single embedded SIM.
Built on the GSMA SGP.32 standard, the solution is designed to support large-scale connected device deployments while giving businesses greater flexibility across international markets.
The latest offering integrates Thales’ eSIM technology with Telefónica Tech’s Kite managed IoT connectivity platform. Together, the companies are enabling enterprises to activate, manage, and switch operator profiles from a centralized environment without requiring complex integrations or additional technical resources.
Unified Platform Streamlines Global IoT Operations
As IoT deployments continue to expand across borders, organizations often face challenges managing connectivity across multiple mobile operators. Telefónica’s new solution addresses this by allowing customers to use a single eSIM capable of supporting profiles from both Telefónica Group operators and third-party providers.
Through the Kite platform, businesses can select the most appropriate operator for each geographic region, manage subscriptions from one interface, and gain complete visibility into their global connectivity landscape. The platform consolidates connectivity information into a single environment, making it easier to oversee large-scale deployments while reducing operational complexity.
The orchestration capabilities built into the platform also eliminate the need for customers to establish separate technical integrations with each operator, significantly shortening deployment times.
Greater Flexibility for International Deployments
The new eSIM solution is expected to benefit organizations operating connected devices across multiple countries by allowing them to change connectivity providers or activate local operator profiles as business requirements evolve.
By removing many of the traditional technical barriers associated with multi-operator IoT deployments, the solution gives enterprises greater control over their connectivity strategies while simplifying day-to-day management.
Juan José González Menaya, Head of IoT Connectivity at Telefónica Tech, said the launch reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering flexible and advanced connectivity services that allow customers to manage global IoT operations independently without requiring specialized expertise.
Eva Rudin, Executive Vice President of Mobile Connectivity Solutions at Thales, noted that combining Thales’ cybersecurity and eSIM capabilities with Telefónica’s IoT ecosystem enables organizations to deploy and manage connected devices securely, efficiently, and in compliance with international standards.
Strengthening the Global IoT Ecosystem
The latest launch further expands the long-standing partnership between Telefónica and Thales as both companies continue to invest in next-generation IoT infrastructure.
By supporting standardized, multi-operator connectivity through a unified platform, the solution is positioned to help enterprises accelerate global IoT deployments while improving scalability, operational efficiency, and long-term connectivity management as adoption of connected devices continues to grow.
