From operating its own hotels to building a technology platform that understands individual rooms, Roomza is challenging how travelers discover, evaluate, and book hotel stays, guided by Founder and CEO Curtis Crimmins’s vision.
For decades, hotel booking has largely revolved around the property. Travelers choose a hotel, select a room category, read reviews, compare prices, and make a reservation. Yet anyone who has stayed in hotels knows that two rooms in the same property can offer completely different experiences.
One may be quiet, recently renovated, and filled with natural light. Another, sold under the same room category and price, may sit beside an elevator or face a noisy street.
Roomza was built around this gap.
The New York-based hospitality technology company has developed a hotel data and booking platform that goes beyond the property-level information traditionally offered by travel platforms. Its approach focuses on the individual room, using room-level data, guest feedback, and technology to help travelers understand what they are actually booking.
From Running Hotels to Rethinking the Hotel Room
The company’s current direction is closely connected to Curtis Crimmins’ experience inside the hospitality industry.
Crimmins describes himself as a hotel operator first and a founder second. His connection to hospitality began through his mother, who worked as a housekeeper at Motel 6. He later earned general manager certifications from Hilton, Marriott, Best Western, and IHG and went on to develop more than $100 million in hotels.
That operational experience exposed him to a recurring problem: the hotel room sold to a guest and the actual experience delivered to that guest were not always the same.
Before Roomza’s latest transformation, Crimmins also served as Chief of Staff at OYO, where he gained experience looking at hospitality at a broader portfolio level. In 2020, he started Roomza, initially as a hotel brand. Between 2022 and 2025, the company operated properties in New York, Baltimore, and New Orleans, hosting approximately 150,000 guests.
Those years of operating hotels became an important testing ground.
Roomza eventually closed its own properties in 2025 and relaunched in November of that year as a technology and data platform focused on the room itself.
Seeing the Difference Between Rooms
Roomza’s central proposition is straightforward: a hotel is not one product.
Traditional hotel websites and booking platforms typically organize inventory around categories such as Standard King, Deluxe King, or Ocean View. Roomza attempts to go deeper by creating individual profiles for rooms and identifying characteristics that can materially affect a stay.
Its room-level scoring considers factors including the bed, noise, view, Wi-Fi, condition, and access. The company’s stated objective is to connect this information to real stays so travelers can understand how a particular room performs rather than relying only on an overall hotel rating.
This changes the question from “Is this hotel good?” to something more useful for many travelers: “Which room in this hotel is right for me?”
That distinction could matter particularly for light sleepers, families, travelers seeking accessible rooms, remote workers, and guests who care about views or room location.
Booking the Room, Not Just the Category
Roomza is also extending its room-level approach into the booking process.
Its Room Lock feature allows travelers, at participating hotels, to request an exact room by number. The company’s current booking system also allows travelers to see room information, pricing, cancellation terms, and other booking details within the platform.
The company has paired this with its Love Your Room Guarantee, which applies to Roomza bookings. Guests who do not love their room can explain why through a review, with Roomza providing at least $25 and potentially more depending on the circumstances and value of the stay.
The approach places greater emphasis on accountability after the booking as well as information before it.
Building a New Layer of Hotel Intelligence
Roomza’s ambitions extend beyond helping consumers select rooms.
The company also provides Roomza Intelligence for hotels, giving properties a room-by-room view of guest sentiment, recurring problems, room strengths, maintenance signals, and potential opportunities for improvement. Its platform is designed to help hotel teams identify which rooms are performing well and which ones may require attention.
This creates an interesting two-sided model.
Travelers receive more detailed information before booking, while hotels receive a more granular understanding of how their inventory performs. Instead of treating 300 rooms as one product, the technology attempts to make the differences between those rooms visible.
Roomza says its hotel network currently spans more than 8,000 properties, while its data network structures information around individual rooms, including attributes such as condition, layout, noise, views, accessibility, amenities, and guest sentiment.
Preparing Hotel Discovery for AI
Artificial intelligence adds another dimension to Roomza’s strategy.
The company is building its platform so AI assistants can access structured room-level information. Roomza operates a public MCP server and provides structured information that AI systems can use to search hotels, examine room scores and verified reviews, check prices, and support bookings.
This addresses a growing challenge in travel discovery.
An AI assistant may be able to recommend a hotel, but travelers increasingly want recommendations based on specific preferences: a quiet room, a particular view, accessibility requirements, a recently renovated space, or a room away from an elevator.
Roomza’s strategy is to make that information machine-readable at the room level.
Its broader data network also targets AI, robotics, travel technology, and hotel asset diligence, creating opportunities for room-level information to become useful beyond conventional booking.
A Founder Shaped by the Front Lines of Hospitality
Crimmins’ leadership story is closely tied to this evolution.
Rather than approaching hotel technology solely from a software background, he arrived with years of experience managing and developing physical hospitality properties. That experience gave him direct exposure to the operational realities behind online hotel listings.
The result is a technology proposition built around a very physical question: what does the guest actually get when the door opens?
That perspective also informs Roomza’s wider positioning around independent hotels, direct relationships, and reducing information gaps between properties and travelers. Crimmins has spoken publicly about the opportunity for hotels to build stronger direct relationships with guests rather than depending entirely on intermediaries.
Making the Hotel Room More Transparent
Roomza represents a different interpretation of what a hotel booking platform can become.
Its journey from operating hotels to creating a room-level data network illustrates how firsthand hospitality experience can reveal problems that are easy to overlook from the outside. Under Curtis Crimmins, Roomza is attempting to turn those observations into technology that serves travelers, hotel operators, and increasingly AI-powered travel systems.
The company’s proposition is ultimately centered on a simple idea: the hotel is not the entire product. The room matters.
By making that room more measurable, searchable, understandable, and eventually accessible to AI-driven discovery, Roomza is positioning itself at an interesting intersection of hospitality operations, travel commerce, data, and artificial intelligence.
About Roomza
Roomza is a New York-based hotel data and booking platform founded by Curtis Crimmins and Samantha Spring. Founded in 2020 as a hotel brand, the company operated three properties before relaunching in November 2025 as a platform focused on room-level hotel intelligence.
Today, Roomza provides room-level scores, exact-room booking at participating properties, hotel intelligence tools, AI assistant access, and licensable hotel data for travel technology, AI, and robotics applications.
