US: Vending Machines for Bullets, Alabama, Oklahoma To Have Them First
In order to make ammo “more available,” a business installed automated kiosks in grocery stores, allowing gun owners in three US states to purchase bullets from these devices.
In certain stores in Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama, patrons may now obtain ammunition for their firearms by just scanning their ID on a machine that resembles a drink vending machine.
The machines’ manufacturer, American Rounds, claims that operating them is just like using an ATM.
The company’s website claims that “our smart retail automated ammo dispensers have built-in AI technology, card scanning capability, and facial recognition software.” “Every software component functions in concert to confirm that the identity scanned by the machine matches the user.”
In order to verify that a customer is over eighteen, the machines use “built-in AI technology, card scanning capability, and facial recognition software” to match the buyer’s ID to their face.
Clients use a touchscreen to pick the ammo they want to purchase, then the machine scans their ID to retrieve it through a hole in the bottom.
The Biden administration is pressuring states to enact stricter gun ownership rules after deeming gun safety to be a public health emergency.
While Republicans oppose the proposals, Joe Biden has advocated for federally required universal background checks as well as a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
American Rounds CEO Grant Magers stated that the company was “growing daily” from the more than 200 requests it had received to install the machines.
He stated to Newsweek that “law-abiding, responsible gun ownership” was something the corporation supported.
The machines are legitimate, and in order to comply with some state rules, transaction records are maintained at the business.
